Dive into history | What are the differences between a daguerreotype, an ambrotype and a tintype? Learn more at the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road, from 10 – 11 a.m. Park historian and curator Nick Sacco will explore a variety of historic photos from both the park’s collection and his own. He will explain the technology of photography and how it evolved during the 19th century, as well as how photographic technology combined with the subject can help historians estimate the date of an image. Visitors are encouraged to bring a historic photo of their own to include in the discussion.
Learn about nature | Come together with other families to sing songs and play games while learning about nature through trail walks and outdoor activities at Whitecliff Park, 9245 Whitecliff Park Lane, from 10 – 11 a.m.

Dive into history | The Heritage Committee of St. Lucas UCC invites you to attend a historical cemetery walking tour at 2 p.m. You will hear about the lives of ten people buried in the St. Lucas Cemetery, 11735 Denny Road. Most of them were founders of St. Lucas, but a few more recent members will also be highlighted. Ten different individuals will portray the deceased. Attendees will meet outside the glass door entrance on the northeast side of the building near the large parking lot. The route is about 1/10th of a mile on a paved road. The event will be held rain or shine, although it can be moved indoors in case of rain.
Connect with animals | Meet dogs and cats from Love on a Leash and share a story with them at the Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road, from 2 – 3 p.m. This program is for children ages 6-11 and registration is required. Visit slcl.org/events for more information.
