Beautify your community | The City of Crestwood, in partnership with Beautify Crestwood, seeks volunteers to help maintain the Government Center and Fire Department pollinator garden. Workdays are held on the first and third Fridays of each month. No registration is required. Volunteers can meet near the Crestwood sign at 1 Detjen Drive. Per Crestwood’s website, workdays will take place all day, so stop by at any time.

Help those in need | The River Rock Church of Lemay will host its Better Rest program for families in the Lemay community who have children in need of a bed. Volunteers are wanted. Volunteers will go to homes to meet families and measure the bedrooms to make sure the bunk beds will fit. The church also needs volunteers to go into homes, build the bunk beds and gift bedding and Bibles. Donate new twin-size bedding, pillows, sheets, comforters and blankets at River Rock Church, 1601 Telegraph Road, from 9 a.m. to noon. Call the church office at 314-968-0600 if you have questions.

Relax under the open sky and among nature while enjoying a free concert by the Vince Martin Band, covering everything from Blues to Broadway, Sinatra to Santana. Dive into history | There will be a free presentation illuminating Father Pierre-Jean De Smet’s many travels from St. Louis west to the Pacific Ocean at St. Mark Parish Center, 4200 Ripa Ave., at 7 p.m. This program’s highlights include the relationships Father De Smet built with many Native Americans and established many missions that still stand today. The presenter is a native St. Louisan that has done extensive research on De Smet and designed and constructed a memorial park in Idaho to chronicle De Smet’s many accomplishments.
Get your groove on | Jeffco Swing Dance Club meets 7 – 10 p.m. at the Arnold VFW, 2301 Church Road. Line dance and swing dance lessons will take place beforehand, at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for visitors; members and sister clubs pay $8.
