To the editor:
I read Ellie Marshall’s article, “Affton Southwest precinct hosts community forum on active shooter preparedness” in the July 6 print edition of The St. Louis Call.
This article was helpful as it showed how the police were able to assist the residents of the area in making sure that they knew the proper way to handle an active shooter situation.
Another very helpful aspect of this article is that it talked about not only learning about what to do in these types of situations but also talked about trying to prevent similar situations completely by partnering with mental health professionals and organizations to ensure that these occurances can be prevented.
I believe that taking these steps to make the community safer are very important and very much appreciated and needed.
