Jefferson College seeks submissions for recipe book ‘A Balanced Viking Life’

Community invited to share recipes and crafts

Among the many impacts that the pandemic has made in people’s lives is the adjustment in cooking and/or homeschooling and/or family together time. Jefferson College is seeking community submissions of favorite recipes and craft or activity ideas for inclusion in the book “A Balanced Viking Life,” an activity and cookbook for youth and adults.

All proceeds from the sale of the book will support the Jefferson College Viking Fund. Gifts to the Viking Fund strengthen Jefferson College’s ability to serve students through scholarships, teaching innovations, updated technology, comprehensive programs, and facility improvements, positively impacting student lives and preserving the high-quality education students receive at Jefferson College.

There is no cost to submit a recipe, craft or activity idea. Submissions will be accepted online:

Recipe – appetizers, main dish, desserts, drinks, etc. – http://bit.ly/JC-Recipe

Craft or Activity – ideas to help keep children of all ages busy when stuck at home or on a trip. It can include electronic, hands-on or even verbal activities – http://bit.ly/JC-Craft

The deadline for submission is Friday, April 30.

The book costs $15 and will be available this summer. Pre-orders are now begin accepted at https://bit.ly/JC-Cookbook. Books can be picked up at the Hillsboro campus or shipped for an additional fee.

“A Balanced Viking Life” is a cooperative project by the Jefferson College Foundation, Employee Support Committee, Area Technical School Culinary Arts program, and Area Technical School Early Childhood Development program.
