  • Mark W. Leach, a Native American burial mound preservationist and author of the book “The Great Pyramids of St. Louis: A Modern Metropolis” will discuss the ancient city that gave St. Louis the nickname “Mound City” at the Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Road at 2 p.m. For teens and adults.

  • The Red Cross has issued an immediate call for blood and platelet donations due to a severe blood shortage and has opened donations sites across the St. Louis Region.   • The Mehlville Fire Protection District will be collecting canned goods for “Feed My People” to help those in need during the holiday season. The food drive will run from Dec. 1 through Dec. 20.
  • Stop by your local St. Louis County library branch and donate to their holiday food drive benefitting Operation Food Search. The most  needed items are canned meats, fish, vegetables, beans, soup and low/no sugar breakfast cereal. No glass containers or expired items, please. Items are being collected through Dec. 31.
  • Starting Nov. 22, drop off your old holiday lights at the Sunset Hills Community Center, 3915 S. Lindbergh Blvd., 63127. Lights are being accepted through Jan. 15.
  • Starting Nov. 22, drop off your letters for Santa in the special mailbox located at the Sunset Hills Community Center, 3915 S. Lindbergh Blvd., 63127. Drop off letters before Dec. 18 and make sure to include a return address, as Santa will send a letter back.
