2024 Pet Photo Contest

Enter one or all the following contest categories and win fabulous prizes. You may also have your photos published in the May 23 mail edition of Call Newspapers and online at callnewspapers.com.

All entries must be accompanied by an official entry form. You may submit to as many categories as you would like, but only one photo can be included in each submission. Judges’ decisions are final.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
ELIGIBILITY
1. No purchase necessary to participate. Making a purchase does not increase chances of winning.

2. Participation is limited to legal U.S. residents who reside within Call Newspapers area and who are thirteen (13) years or older at the time of participation.

CONTEST PERIOD
3. The Contest will open for submissions at 12:00 am March 21, 2024 and will close to submissions at 12:00 pm May 6, 2024.
4. Voting will open to the public at 12:00 pm May 10, 2024 on the Call’s Facebook page and will close 12:00 pm May 15, 2024.

ENTRY
5.  Eligible participants, acting as nominators, send entry(s) to photos@callnewspapers.com to submit photo of an animal, either taken by the participant or by a relative or friend of the participant who has given consent for the use of the photo by the participant and fill out the accompanying form. Photo submissions must comply with the photo restrictions detailed below. Submissions must include all of the information marked “required” in the submission form. Any photo submissions which are not accompanied by the required information will not be eligible to win prizes.
6. Only one photo will be allowed per category. Participants may enter up to four (4) categories.

7. If the photo submitted contains the image of a minor or minors under the age of sixteen (16) years old at the time of submission, the submission must be undertaken by that minor’s parent or legal guardian.

PUBLISHING
8. Participant acknowledges and agrees that all photo submissions and any copyright subsisting in the entries become and remain the property of Call Newspapers who may publish or cause to be published any of the submissions received.
9. Photo submissions, after a vetting process by Call Newspapers will be available for public view on the newspaper’s website.

10. Call Newspapers, at its sole discretion, may print the photo submission in the newspaper at any point after submission and verification.

JUDGING
11. Contest judging will be conducted by the public through Facebook. Participants with a Facebook account can vote by going to www.facebook.com/callnewspapers and finding the gallery of submitted photos. Participants will vote on the photos by liking or reacting to the photos that they believe should win each category. Participants will be able to vote for as many photos as they like, but can only vote for each photo once. The submissions that have the most likes and reacts in each category will be named the winners. The submissions that have the second most likes and reacts in each category will be named the runners-up. In the case of a tie, Call Newspapers staff will choose a winner and runner-up at their sole discretion

WINNER NOTIFICATION
12. Winners will be notified through a phone call on May 23, 2024. If the phone is not answered a voice message will be left to notify the participant. If the participant does not contact Call Newspapers or claim their prize by May 31 , 2024, a notification will be sent to the email address on the submission form. If the prize is not claimed by June 30, 2024, it will become the property of Call Newspapers.

PRIZES
13. Winners from each category will win a $50 gift card to Pet Supplies Plus with no expiration date. Runners-up from each category will win a $25 gift card to Pet Supplies Plus with no expiration date. Gift cards can be redeemed at any Pet Supplies Plus location. Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash or be used to purchase other gift cards. Other restrictions may apply.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
14. In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problems, or in the event the contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Call Newspapers in its sole discretion, Call Newspapers may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the contest to address the impairment and then resume the contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or (b) terminate the contest and, in the event of termination, award the prize at random to the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. Call Newspapers reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of the contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Call Newspapers reserves the right to seek damages (including attorney’s fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by the law.

15. Call Newspapers current staff members and their relatives within two degrees are prohibited from participating in the contest.

16. Contest is void where prohibited.

PRIVACY
17. Call Newspapers is collecting your personal information for the purpose of conduction and promotion this competition, including for the purposes of identifying and notifying winners and understanding our audiences. Call Newspapers will otherwise handle your personal information in accordance with the Call Newspapers privacy policy, which can be viewed at www.callnewspapers.com/privacy

AGREEMENT TO OFFICIAL RULES
14. Participation in the contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of Call Newspapers, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.

Photo Restrictions:
Photos submitted by the participants may not contain any content that:
a. is obscene, offensive, sexually explicit or suggestive; violent; derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group; endorses any form of hate or hate group; profane or pornographic; contains nudity;
b. promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing); promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous; promotes any particular political agenda or message;
c. contains products or trademarks of any Sponsor competitor;
d. defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks about any person or company;
e. contains trademarks, logos, or trade dress (such as distinctive packaging or building exteriors/interiors) owned by others, without permission, to the extent permission is necessary; contains any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses;
f. contains copyrighted materials owned by others (including, without limitation, photographs, sculptures, paintings, and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media), without permission, to the extent permission is necessary
g. contains materials embodying the names, likenesses, voices, or other indicia identifying any person, including, without limitation, celebrities and/or other public or private figures, living or dead, without permission, to the extent permission is necessary;
h. contains look-alikes of celebrities or other public or private figures, living or dead;
i. communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will to which Call Newspapers wishes to associate; and/or
j. violates any law or regulation.
In connection with a participant’s submission, the participant affirms, represents, and/or warrants that:
(i) you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents and permissions to use and authorize the Sponsors to use all copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights in and to such submission to enable inclusion and use of the submission in the manner contemplated by these Terms and Conditions; and
(ii) if applicable, participant has the written consent, release and/or permission of each and every identifiable individual person in the submission to use the name or likeness of each and every such identifiable individual person to enable inclusion and use of the submission in the matter contemplated by these Terms and Conditions.
Call Newspapers reserves the right to reject and disqualify any submissions that do not comply with these Terms and Conditions.
Call Newspapers reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to the newspaper from any participant at any time. Failure to provide such proof will disqualify the photo submission.
INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
BY ENTERING THE SWEEPSTAKES, EACH ENTRANT AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS CALL NEWSPAPERS AND ITS PARENT, AFFILIATE AND SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES, THE FACEBOOK PLATFORM, ADMINISTRATOR, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONAL AGENCIES, AND ALL THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS FROM ANY LIABILITY, DAMAGES, LOSSES OR INJURY RESULTING IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM THAT ENTRANT’S PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST AND THE ACCEPTANCE, USE OR MISUSE OF ANY PRIZE THAT MAY BE WON. CALL NEWSPAPERS AND ITS PARENT, AFFILIATE AND SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES DO NOT MAKE ANY WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO THE CONDITION, FITNESS OR MERCHANTABILITY OF THE PRIZE. CALL NEWSPAPERS AND ITS PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONAL AGENCIES, AND ALL THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS DISCLAIM ANY LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE TO ANY COMPUTER SYSTEM RESULTING FROM ACCESS TO OR THE DOWNLOAD OF INFORMATION OR MATERIALS CONNECTED WITH THE CONTEST.
