Crestwood alderman hosts blood drive

To commemorate his time on the Crestwood Board of Aldermen, Ward 2 Alderman Justin Charboneau – who is term-limited and did not seek reelection April 2 – is partnering with ImpactLife to host a three-day community blood drive at the organization’s Crestwood Donor Center, 9860 Watson Road.

“Last year, one of the chamber members was having a blood drive at the Crestwood center. I (hadn’t) given blood in a long time, so I went and it was a super simple process, especially going to the center. I enjoyed it,” Charboneau said.

“Pat (Dillon, ImpactLife territory manager) told me about how desperate supplies are needed because of how bad the (blood donation) shortages have been,” he added. “As someone who’s had family members and friends receive blood transfusions, I know how important it is. I wanted to provide a kind of a lasting way to continue to give back even though I’m term-limited.”

The blood drive will be held for three days, Thursday, April 4 through Saturday, April 6, to give citizens as many options as possible to donate. Each date will have varying available appointments throughout the day – Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Though walk-ins are accepted, scheduled appointments are preferred, making it easier on both parties as donors will have a specific time slot and a shorter wait time. To schedule an appointment, scan the QR code above, visit www.bloodcenter.org or contact Dillon at 636-575-5099.

Donors must be 17 years old or above, or 16 years old with a parent or guardian’s signature on an authorization and approval form. All donors regardless of age must bring a photo ID. To determine eligibility to donate, visit bloodcenter.org/donate/donor/requirements-faq.

Impact Life is a 501c3 nonprofit independent community blood center that works specifically with local and regional hospitals.

“We serve 27 local and regional hospitals. So in Crestwood, pretty much any hospital that’s close to you is going to be getting blood products from us,” Dillon said.
