Mehlville and Lindbergh school districts are seeing staffing shake-ups this year as both of their current chief financial officers are retiring. Marshall Crutcher of Mehlville will retire as CFO in November, and Joël Scheible of Lindbergh will retire as CFO on June 30.
The Mehlville Board of Education recently approved Crutcher’s replacement: Tony Ziegler, who will serve as the district’s CFO for the upcoming school year. According to the district, Ziegler has more than 15 years of accounting and financial management experience. He currently works as the accounting manager at Riverview Gardens School District.
Ziegler also holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a Master of Accountancy from Truman State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
“From auditing to budgeting and forecasting, Mr. Ziegler has a breadth of financial leadership experiences that will continue to provide for the financial health of Mehlville School District,” Superintendent of Schools Jeff Haug said.
Ziegler’s first day on the job is July 7, where he will work through a transition period with current CFO Crutcher.
“I’m thrilled and honored to join the Mehlville School District,” Ziegler said. “The district is doing important work for the community, and I look forward to bringing my experience to the team while continuing to learn and grow alongside them.”
Crutcher was hired as Mehlville’s CFO in 2013. In that time, according to the district, cash reserves increased from 21.3% to over 30% and five propositions were passed.
“I am very proud of the financial progress the district has achieved during my tenure, which is due to community support, including the Finance Committee, the Board of Education, district management and staff,” Crutcher said.
At Lindbergh Schools, Scheible is departing as CFO after nine years. Scheible has a cumulative 30 years of experience in school finance, previously working as business manager of the Meramec Valley R-III School District. She will be replaced by Mark Janiesch on July 1.
“Mark demonstrates strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and will work collaboratively with the district’s administrative cabinet to achieve the district’s strategic goals,” Superintendent of Schools Tony Lake said. “We are looking forward to adding his school finance expertise to our Lindbergh Schools administrative team.”
Janiesch currently serves as the chief operations officer for the Northwest R-1 School District, where he oversees departments like business and finance, facilities, transportation, food service and information technology. Prior to this role, he was the controller for Jefferson College and an audit manager for Daniel Jones & Associates.
