Beginning in 1993, the Affton Community Days Parade and Festival has been sponsored by the Affton Chamber of Commerce and has taken place within Affton. After careful discussion and deliberation, the Board of Directors has decided not to hold the festival this year due to the increasing costs of the event.

Even though the Affton Chamber is not hosting the festival, they will still uphold the standing tradition of the annual Affton Community Days parade that has taken place since 1984. On Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, the parade will begin at 10 a.m. from Affton High School, traveling south on Mackenzie, then proceeding down Gravois Road to Weber Road and ending at Bayless Elementary School.

This year, the parade organizers are seeking the help of local residents to come up with a theme. The person that submits the winning theme will be a VIP in the parade with a car provided. Their name and picture will be announced through the chamber’s newsletter, website and social media and then submitted to the local newspapers.

Parade theme submissions may be made by visiting the chamber’s website and Facebook page. Also, they will be accepted at the Community and Business Expo which will be held from 3:30 to 6 pm. Wednesday, April 3, at the Affton High School Commons. Deadline for entries is Thursday, April 4.

Online registration for parade entries will be available after April 15 at www.afftonchamber.com.
