Step Up of St. Louis and St. Louis CRUSH hold community meeting on opioids

Step Up of St. Louis and St. Louis CRUSH hold community meeting on opioids

Step Up of St. Louis and St. Louis CRUSH will host an opioids community meeting from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Lindbergh High School Thursday, Sept. 19.

Community members and teenagers from all school districts and areas are invited. Lindbergh High School is located at 5000 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

The event is presented in collaboration with the St. Louis County Police Department – Affton Southwest 3rd Precinct, Missouri Department of Corrections, and the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Drug Enforcement.

The event begins at 5 p.m. with early packet pickup for the Step Up and CRUSH 5K run/walk that will take place two days later, Saturday, Sept. 21.

At 5:30 p.m. there will be a resource fair followed by a fentanyl and opioids presentation and panel discussion at 6 p.m. with experts from the Missouri Institute of Mental Health, Missouri Department of Corrections, Missouri Network for Opiate Reform and Recovery, NCADA, Preferred Family Healthcare, St. Louis Department of Public Health and the St. Louis County Police Department.

At 8:15, there will be optional sessions including Narcan training, grief support, family support, teen resiliency and individual support.

Attendance is free, however sponsorship and donations are welcome. All proceeds from the community meeting and the 5K will be shared by Step Up and CRUSH to support their work of substance misuse presentation and community education.
