Run for a cause | Jefferson County Library is inviting you to join the “Book It: Foam Run” from 8 a.m. to noon at Arnold City Park, 2400 Bradley Beach Rd. With a 5K timed run or a one-mile untimed walk sponsored in part by the Arnold Tourism Commission, participants can register to “book it” for community literacy whichever way suits them best. All participants are required to register and space is limited. Interested parties should reserve their spot today at jeffcolib.org by clicking the “Book It” square.
Celebrate Earth and Arbor days | Sunset Hills is hosting its annual Earth and Arbor Day celebration and recycling drive from 9:30-11:30 a.m. outside the Sunset Hills Community Center, 3915 S. Lindbergh Blvd. Free tree saplings — including bald cypress, northern red oak, redbud, Norway spruce and black gum — will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. Saplings are courtesy of the Sunset Hills Conservation Foundation. The Sunset Hills Garden Club will also have a booth setup with plant materials for sale. Electronic Recycling will be provided by Adonis and secure paper shredding will be available by the Shred Truck. Certain electronics have associated fees. Other items accepted for recycling include: books, clothing, toys, aluminum cans, Christmas lights, eyeglasses and bikes. Paint, gas, oil, herbicides, vacuum cleaners, household batteries, smoke detectors, light bulbs, ballast with PCP/s or gas powered lawn equipment will not be accepted.

Make a difference | The River Rock Church of Lemay will host its Better Rest program for families in the Lemay community who have children in need of a bed. Volunteers are wanted. Volunteers will go to homes to meet families and measure the bedrooms to make sure the bunk beds will fit. The church also needs volunteers to go into homes, build the bunk beds and gift bedding and Bibles. Get your workout in | Join a park ranger for fun, fitness and history on a three-mile, leisurely-paced, round-trip walk through Grantwood Village to the original site of Grant’s Hardscrabble cabin.
