With school back in session, several construction projects in the Affton School District have wrapped up. At an August Board of Education meeting, the board was provided an update on these capital improvement projects — projects that were funded by Proposition 1, a zero-tax-rate-increase bond that was passed in April 2025.

Prop 1 passed with a 79.23% approval rate from Affton School District voters. The bond was intended to generate $30 million in funding for “essential safety, accessibility and educational improvements” within the school district.

At Affton High School, there were cosmetic updates made to the counselor’s office. The concrete was replaced at the kitchen entrance, and the roof was replaced on the kitchen and restroom. Several renovations were undertaken throughout the month of August, such as improvements to the faculty lounge, Special School District wing and art wing. 

Renovations to the AHS choir and orchestra room are expected to be completed on Sept. 9. Landscape improvements will be completed this fall, and by early January, the district expects to be finished installing an elevator at the high school.

At Rogers Middle School, updates were made to the floors and tables of the industrial technology room. There were locker repairs as well as improvements to the school’s HVAC system. Other updates include new paint, window blinds and whiteboards. Rogers is expecting soccer and baseball field improvements by Oct. 1.

The roof and concrete were replaced at Gotsch Intermediate School. In August, the district also worked on renovations to the library and learning wall; landscaping improvements will be made this fall.

Throughout the month of August, Mesnier Primary School underwent renovations such as gym lighting replacements, paint and whiteboards, new cubbies and a dishwasher replacement.

Minor classroom paint improvements happened at the Affton Early Childhood Center, and there were concrete improvements at the Affton Administration Building.
