St. Louis County released this geographic data of coronavirus cases Friday, the first time the county’s cases had been publicly sorted by ZIP code.

Updated at 4:25 p.m. April 3 with update on Crestwood and Sunset Hills, plus more North County ZIP codes.

Some areas of South County and St. Louis County are being hit harder by the coronavirus than others, according to data the county released Friday that for the first time breaks down the county’s 781 positive cases by ZIP code.

The county has had seven deaths and 781 known cases of coronavirus as of Friday. But until the county released the ZIP code data, no information was known from official channels about the locations of any of those cases.

West County and North County have had the most cases so far. Frontenac was the site of the county’s first case, and a Creve Coeur preschool had an outbreak that infected parents and teachers.

That is also where the county’s testing site is currently located. So far, there are no South County testing sites.

County spokesman Sgt. Benjamin Granda said, “It will depict some areas experiencing more of an impact than others. Attention and resources are being deployed appropriately to address those needs. Zip codes that have fewer cases should not become complacent or disregard the guidelines set forth.”

In cases that have tested positive so far, Oakville and Lemay in the 63129 and 63125  ZIP codes lead South County with a rate of 50 to 100 cases per 100,000 people in each ZIP code.

The Concord and Affton 63128 and 63123 ZIP codes have fewer cases per 100,000, with fewer than 50 cases.

Crestwood and Sunset Hills in the 63126 and 63127 ZIP codes have so few cases that their rates can’t be displayed, according to the map. Those ZIP codes have fewer than five total cases each.

Fenton’s ZIP code of 63026 matches Oakville and Lemay with between 50 and 100 cases per 100,000. Kirkwood, Webster Groves and Shrewsbury all rank at the 50 to 100 per 100,000 level.

The ZIP codes in St. Louis County with the most cases are ranked as having more than 150 cases per 100,000 residents. Those areas in West County are currently Chesterfield in 63005, Creve Coeur and Town and County in 63141,  Creve Coeur and Olivette in 63132.

In North County, the ZIP code of 63133 with Pagedale, Hanley Hills, Bel Nor, Wellston, Hillsdale and Greendale also has more than 150 cases per 100,000, along with two other North County ZIP codes bordering Illinois.

Other ZIP codes with many cases in North County include 63137 of Bellefontaine Neighbors, Glasgow Village and Riverview; 63138 of Spanish Lake and West Alton; and 63034 for Old Jamestown.
