With property crimes on the rise, an Affton resident is taking steps to try to get a group discount for doorbell cameras for residents who live in Affton, ZIP code 63123.
Affon resident Michael Burton said that he has been working with the company Ring, owned by Amazon, which will offer Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on Ring home security systems from Nov. 29 through Dec. 2., in addition to a possible group discount though Dec. 8.
The doorbell cameras are installed instead of regular doorbells and take videos.
The commander of the Affton Southwest Precinct, Capt. Melissa Webb, is on board with the idea and will hold a town hall addressing the Ring concept and the rise in crime Dec. 4 at the Elks Lodge, 6330 Heege Road, at 6:30 p.m.
