They include Julia Dent Grant and her sisters, as well as the enslaved women who quietly kept the home and farm running. • Help those in need | The River Rock Church of Lemay will host its Better Rest program for families in the Lemay community who have children in need of a bed. Volunteers are wanted. Volunteers will go to homes to meet families and measure the bedrooms to make sure the bunk beds will fit. The church also needs volunteers to go into homes, build the bunk beds and gift bedding and Bibles. Drop off any electronic item that has a cord or is powered by a battery. Personal information stored on laptops, computers, and other devices is destroyed in a secure manner. No smoke detectors, disposable batteries or light bulbs will be accepted. Most items are free to recycle.
