Dive into history | White Haven was home to one of the most famous men of the 19th century, but it was also host to many remarkable women who made or witnessed history. They include Julia Dent Grant and her sisters, as well as the enslaved women who quietly kept the home and farm running. Come hear Park Guide Evan Meyer as she discusses The Women of White Haven from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road. Help those in need | The River Rock Church of Lemay will host its Better Rest program for families in the Lemay community who have children in need of a bed. Volunteers are wanted. Volunteers will go to homes to meet families and measure the bedrooms to make sure the bunk beds will fit. The church also needs volunteers to go into homes, build the bunk beds and gift bedding and Bibles. Donate new twin-size bedding, pillows, sheets, comforters and blankets at River Rock Church, 1601 Telegraph Road, from 9 a.m. to noon. Call the church office at 314-968-0600 if you have questions.
Hop into spring | Hop into spring with Hoppy Sunday from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Affton Community Center, 9801 Mackenzie Road. This program includes springtime games, activities, crafts and an egg hunt. Recycle electronics | There will be an electronics recycling event at Jefferson Barracks Park, 399 CCC Road, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., hosted by the St. Louis County Parks Department. Drop off any electronic item that has a cord or is powered by a battery. Personal information stored on laptops, computers, and other devices is destroyed in a secure manner. No smoke detectors, disposable batteries or light bulbs will be accepted. Most items are free to recycle.
