Lindbergh’s 17th annual Sunday Night Lights was held the evening of Oct. 18.
Hosted at the Lindbergh High School athletic field, Sunday Night Lights is a special event for children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. It gives those individuals — called heroes — a chance to experience and take part in a high school football game under the lights. Heroes can participate as flag football players, marching band members, cheerleaders, dance team members or VIP fans.
According to Sunday Night Lights organizer Lori Krueger, this year’s event featured twice as many heroes as typical in the past, with 53 families — totaling 102 registered heroes and siblings — participating.
“Sunday Night Lights is more than just a fundraiser,” Krueger shared with The Call. “We work to be able to include as many patients and their siblings as we can each year, and if we are able to put a smile on their faces and allow them even just a few special hours of feeling like a kid should, then we count ourselves as successful.”
