- Beautify your community | The City of Crestwood, in partnership with Beautify Crestwood, seeks volunteers to help maintain the Government Center and Fire Department pollinator gardens. - Explore various vehicles | Crestwood’s free Touch-A-Truck event will take place from 5 – 7 p.m. at Whitecliff Park, 9245 Whitecliff Park Lane. Explore the big trucks, emergency vehicles and equipment that keep our community running. Kids can climb aboard, honk the horns and see these machines up close. For those who prefer a less noisy environment, 6 – 7 p.m. will be the honk-free zone.
- Try local food | The Taste of Lemay-Affton Business Expo is back. Sample food from local restaurants, bakeries and caterers from 6 – 8 p.m. at Hancock Place Elementary School, 9101 S. Broadway. Proceeds will benefit the Hancock Place School District and the Affton-Lemay Chamber of Commerce.
Saturday, Oct. 3
- Electronic recycling | Get rid of your old electronics during Crestwood’s free electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon at the Crestwood Government Center, 1 Detjen Drive. Nearly anything with a cord can be recycled, including up to the first 200 televisions (limit two per vehicle) at no cost. Fees apply for TVs beyond the first 200, CRT monitors and certain other items. This event is open to all Crestwood and St. Louis County residents. It is funded by a grant from the Saint Louis County Department of Public Health utilizing county landfill surcharge funds.
- Bike across town | Ride your bike on the Gravois Greenway between the Oak Bend and Grant’s View library branches for prizes, kid’s programming, wellness activities,and more from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Grab a passport map to collect stamps and earn rewards at stops along the way. The day will kickoff with donuts and close with Gus’ pretzels! This event is sponsored by Great Rivers Greenway in partnership with St. Louis County Library, The Sappington House, and Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site.
- Bond with your pet | Come for the inaugural Octo-Paw-Fest Walk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, 11735 Denny Road. Bring your well-behaved, four-legged friend on a leash for a mile, half-mile or longer run/walk. There will also be a hot dog lunch and photo opportunity for you and your pet. The cost is $5 per family, and all proceeds will benefit the Little Free Pet Pantry and Holy Paws Pet Ministry.

- Attend a local show | The hometown rock band, the SappingTones, is reprising their Battle of the Bands win. The five-member band will perform from 5 – 8 p.m. at Historic Sappington Park, 1015 S. Sappington Road. The gate opens at 4 p.m. It costs $20 for adults and is free for children under 12. Bring your own lawn chairs and coolers, but no glass containers. There will be 50/50 chances and sales of mystery gift card boxes to boost fundraising efforts to benefit the Historic Sappington Houses in Crestwood. Funds raised will go toward maintaining the brick historic Thomas Sappington House and reconstructing the Joseph Sappington Log House as a new rustic educational and event center. - Celebrate autumn | The City of Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to celebrate the arrival of fall at the annual Shrewsbury Fall Festival from 4 – 8 p.m. at Wehner Park, 5200 Lenox Ave. The free, family-friendly event will feature live music, food and drinks, games, activities, entertainment and opportunities to connect with local organizations and businesses. There will be a petting zoo and face painting from 4 – 6 p.m. and live music by Off-Topic from 5 – 8 p.m. Food vendors and exhibitor booths featuring community organizations and sponsors will be available throughout the festival. Guests can also enjoy a free pumpkin patch, games, crafts and inflatables, including a bounce house, obstacle course and soccer darts.
- Church movie night | Enjoy a family outdoor movie night featuring the movie “David” from 8 – 10 p.m. at River Rock Church, 1601 Telegraph Road. Bring family, friends, blankets and lawn chairs. Candy, popcorn and snacks will be provided.
Sunday, Oct. 4
- Make a difference | The River Rock Church of Lemay will host its Better Rest program for families in the Lemay community who have children in need of a bed. Volunteers are wanted. Volunteers will go to homes to meet families and measure the bedrooms to make sure the bunk beds will fit. The church also needs volunteers to go into homes, build the bunk beds and gift bedding and Bibles. Donate new twin-size bedding, pillows, sheets, comforters and blankets at River Rock Church, 1601 Telegraph Road, from 9 a.m. to noon. Call the church office at 314-968-0600 if you have questions.
- VoterPalooza | VoterPalooza: A No Kings Festival is coming to the Jefferson Barracks Veterans Memorial Amphitheater, 533 Bagby Road, from noon to 7 p.m. This free, family-friendly democracy rally and concert will bring together live music, voter resources, community organizations, local businesses and vendors, food trucks and opportunities for civic action.Â
