Green Park approves 2022 street project, includes Lindbergh Business Court

Green Park’s 2022 street project was approved unanimously by the Board of Aldermen July 18.

The project includes the repavement of the Lindbergh Business Court and its sidewalks. City Engineer Derrick Madej asked for two types of bids — the first was for 8-inches of pavement with dowel baskets, while the second was for 7-inch concrete. The board ultimately went with the more stable 8-inch option.

The bid will cost the city $1,235,105, which Madej said was expected based on preliminary bids. He said it was important the city approve a bid soon to keep costs down.

“(RV Wagner) can start pretty much in the middle of August. We can get a majority, if not all, of the project done before winter concrete prices,” Madej said. “End of October is when regular concrete is phased out and they start winter concrete. They heat the water to keep the concrete … so it doesn’t set too quickly.”

Madej explained that the dowel baskets were included to provide extra stability for the concrete, “kind of like rebar.” He said with the dowel baskets he hopes the concrete will get 10-15 years of life.
