Green Park marijuana dispensaries will be allowed to stay open later, following a city code amendment that was approved by the Green Park Board of Aldermen on Aug. 17.
Previously, marijuana dispensaries in the city were allowed to operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Now, dispensaries will be allowed to operate from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and on Sundays they will be allowed to operate from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Codes Dispensary — a dispensary at 5600 S. Lindbergh Blvd. — requested the change after it moved from its former location at 11420 Concord Village Ave. By moving into the City of Green Park, Codes Dispensary needed the hours of operation to be lengthened in city code in order to continue operating under the same hours as its previous location.
A public hearing preceded the vote for the code amendment, during which Lucas Touchette appeared before the Green Park Board of Aldermen to explain Code Dispensary’s petition for a change to the hours of operation. “We’re just asking it to be changed to the original store hours we had up the street,” Touchette said.
When it came time for the Board of Aldermen to vote on the amendment, they approved it unanimously without discussion.
