Two new businesses had permits approved at the May 26 Crestwood Board of Aldermen meeting: a Valvoline Instant Oil Change at 9222 Watson Road and a Dutch Bros coffee shop at 9838 Watson Road. Both businesses sought conditional use permits for the properties.
The Valvoline will join the strip of new businesses opening in Crestwood — businesses like Zen Me Noodles and Crepes, which opened in November, as well as Club 65 Pickleball, which had its ribbon-cutting on May 23.
The property is located on a “previously undeveloped front parcel” of the Crestview Plaza shopping center. The front part of the parcel is currently being used as an overflow parking lot for Crestview Plaza.

“It’s wonderful to see that center get more and more tenants every time I’m in there,” Ward 2 Alderperson Rebecca Now said about Crestview Plaza. “It’s very affirming, and with the Valvoline going in as an additional business in our community.”
After the board approved the conditional use permit, Mayor Scott Shipley told the business, “Thank you very much, and go build an oil change facility.”
In a different part of Watson Road, Dutch Bros is the newest coffee chain to join Crestwood’s developments. The drive-thru coffee shop started in the western states and has worked its way east. The Dutch Bros at 9838 Watson Road is set to be on the eastern half of a lot split. There will be two drive-thru lanes and a walk-up window to place orders, though there is no place for indoor dining.

The total site area is approximately 1.75 acres, sitting across the street from the Watson Plaza, the Crestwood Center shopping center and more. The site currently houses the now-vacant Red Lobster restaurant.
“Thank you for coming, and looking forward to having some coffee there,” Shipley said after the board approved the conditional use permit.
This isn’t the first drive-thru chain that has been approved this year — the Crestwood Planning and Zoning Commission signed off on the final development plan for a new 7Brew Drive-Thru Coffee in January. That coffee shop will be located at 9265 Watson Road, which is roughly 1.4 miles from the spot of the Dutch Bros property. At the time it was approved by the board, 7Brew was anticipated to be open by mid-to-late summer.
