Miss Sheri’s Cafeteria — a neighborhood staple in South St. Louis County for 54 years — has closed its doors.
According to the cafeteria, which served soul and comfort food to its diners, the establishment was not able to recover after the blow it took from COVID-19 and reduced business. Inflation added another obstacle as the cafeteria operators struggled to keep prices low.
“This is so disappointing to hear,” one Facebook commenter, Alison Secoy Weatherby, wrote below a post about the closing. “I used to meet my mom and dad here weekly for dinner. I always thought it was a great way to get a home-cooked meal without having to cook.”
Another commenter, Linda Etim, wrote, “I went there yesterday to eat for what I thought would be the last time, however, they were closed. Farewell to a great place to eat and the last of the cafeteria-style restaurants in Missouri.”
