For months, the City of Green Park has expressed an interest in purchasing microphones and speakers for its aldermanic chambers, hoping to make Board of Aldermen meetings more audible and accessible for attendees. City staff is still looking at options for how this might be accomplished.
City Clerk Theresa Pfyl says the city received one informal bid for a microphone and speaker system, which would cost the city approximately $60,122.
“That amount was more than expected,” Pfyl told The Call. “We are looking at other companies.” The microphone and speaker system is not a budgeted item for 2026; Pfyl did not provide specifics on how much the city is willing to spend toward the system.
This endeavor joins a larger move to upgrade systems at Green Park City Hall. In April, aldermen approved a resolution to construct a dais for the board to sit at during meetings, but this project is now on hold until the speaker and microphone installation.
