The Lindbergh Flyers lacrosse team won the Show Me Cup state championship last month.

Lindbergh High School’s team took on Rockwood Summit High School in the Show Me Cup State Championships for High School Boys Lacrosse at Hunter Stadium in Lindenwood University May 26.

The game went back and forth, but Lindbergh earned the victory in the final seconds.

The Flyers won 7-6 when senior midfielder Ryan Rahoy scored with 2.7 seconds remaining.

The team is led by Coach Corey Paffrath.

Assistant Coach Adam Gardner was named the Assistant Coach of the Year for the season by the Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association, or MSLA.

Senior defender Gabe Pummill has been playing lacrosse since his freshman year, when the team’s record was 1-11.

In 2016, the team raised their record to 3-9. And the team went 6-6 in 2017, Pummill said.

“We worked hard every day,” Pummill said. “We were planning on winning the Show Me Cup before the season started. The past few seasons for us have been rough, and we just wanted to make a name for ourselves.”
