To the editor:

I am responding to Fabrizio Passanisi’s July 24th letter to the editor, “Writer reflects on America’s current political climate.” Mr. Passanisi is critical of the Trump administration’s deportation strategy. President Trump was overwhelmingly elected with his promise of securing the borders and deporting illegal immigrants. For the record, in 1996, President Clinton signed into law the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act, allowing deportation without judicial hearing through a process called “expedited removal.” 

The millions of illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. under the Biden administration have overwhelmed our social network while providing housing, food, medical, and education and adding to the national debt. These enormous expenses could have benefited U. S. citizens and are being added to our national debt. 

The United States has always allowed more immigrants into the country than any other country. I am sympathetic to the plight of people wanting to move to the United States for various reasons, however, there are laws that must be followed. Without laws, we have chaos and an uncivilized society. Biden and the Democrats, with the hopes of allowing these illegal immigrants voting rights, have chosen to ignore the rules at the expense of the American people.

In addition to securing the borders, under Trump, the U.S. is benefiting from new trade agreements, inflation under Trump is 2.7% compared to Biden’s 20% cumulative inflation rate*, gas is lower and the stock market is up. Love Trump or hate him, he is doing what he was elected to do.
