To the editor:

I have based my support for candidates primarily on character. I check their backgrounds to determine if this is a person who will be more concerned with the welfare of their constituents than in lining their own pockets and basing their votes on the desires of their biggest donors rather than the population they are expected to serve. A person with good character is someone you can trust to work in the best interests of the people they serve. Ann Wagner falls far short. During her 13 years in Congress, she has quadrupled her wealth while not conducting a single town hall meeting. She obviously doesn’t care to hear what we in the 2nd District have to say.

In my research into a candidate with the character we need in Washington, I quickly found that Fred Wellman was just the person to represent our district. He is a Westpoint graduate and spent much of his 22-year Army career as an aviator leading combat troops in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. After retiring he found other ways to serve by founding a public affairs firm to advocate for veterans and military families, volunteering at a field hospital in New York at the height of COVID and working with the Lincoln Project in 2020 to help beat Trump. During the beginning of this campaign, he has already gained the support of many important groups. 

His long history of serving his country, his grassroots campaign relying on individual donors over special interest groups and his winning spirit make him the person to serve the people of the 2nd District.
