To the editor:

If I receive a $5,000 bribe, uh, dividend check from Donald Trump, I pledge to deposit the check and immediately write a personal check in the amount of $5,000, made out to the Democratic National Committee, and put it in the mail. Anyone want to join me?

I know, color me skeptical. This is at least the third time Trump has promised (lied to?) Americans regarding a stimulus check. He promised $5,000 stimulus based on savings resulting from Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. Didn’t happen. Apparently, the savings didn’t happen either. He promised $2,000 stimulus to help alleviate Americans’ additional cost of living caused by his tariff policies. Didn’t happen. Now he wants to bribe us to, apparently, vote for Republicans during the November midterm election. Well, we’ll have to wait until after the election to find out if Trump can bribe enough voters and deliver on this promised financial windfall (and add an estimated $1.2 trillion to the national debt). And the beat goes on…
