The Call celebrates 37 years this month and we are pleased to bring our readers the 37th Fall Sports edition, just in time for back to school and before the first games of the season.
Enjoy the special section, pages 7-19, and enjoy the start of a new school year.
Enjoy also the stories about your community and the opinions of family, friends and foes that your local newspaper proudly makes possible as long as everyone’s opinion still counts.
An opinion is a kind of sport… sport aims at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental well-being. Whether casual or organized, social relationships are formed and results in competition at all levels is achieved.
With a strong constitution and the upholding of the freedoms that we as a nation have been provided, anything is possible. Sports make us feel this way. The spirit embossed in any game we play or watch makes us feel and provides achievement, and gives us a strong spirit of freedom.
We all win through friendly competition. It is the same for opinions. We all win, listening and giving time for another’s thoughts and reasonings. We all win because we are given many channels to process ideas, just as many sports give us challenges to have fun and achieve goals. It really doesn’t matter who wins or loses in sports, and it doesn’t matter who wins in elections as long as everyone in these United States understands an opinion is an opinion.
A sport is a sport, whether there is a good call or a bad call. An opinion is an opinion, whether it is a good call or a bad call. No one agrees with all the sports calls in a game and no one agrees with all opinions. Opinions and sports matter because they remind us we are free to play and to convey. Everybody wins if we all can play sports and have opinions.
