Sunset Hills will hold a public hearing tonight, Tuesday, July 9, at Sunset Hills City Hall, 3939 Lindbergh Blvd., on the proposed amended development plan for the St. Louis Bombers Rugby Club to build a rugby complex on 15 acres of the 122-acre former Sunset Hills Golf Course. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

The purpose of the public hearing is to allow residents to provide feedback about the amended development plan for the Bombers’ proposed rugby facility. The Board of Aldermen will then hold a first reading on the amended development plan.

The aldermen unanimously approved a 25-year lease with the rugby club to use part of the city-owned Sunset Hills Golf Course as the team’s new rugby facility in February. The Bombers will pay annual rent to lease 15 acres in the southeast corner of the course.

The Sunset Hills Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously agreed at its June meeting to recommend the Bombers’ amended development plan for the first phase of the rugby complex to the Board of Aldermen, with the stipulation that the Bombers must return to the commission before erecting any lights on any of the three fields to review the lighting scheme.
