The We Are One Community Choir will be hosting a concert this weekend to celebrate its name change to Vita Cantus, meaning “Life Song.”

The name change reflects the different relationship each choir member has with music.

“Like songs, our lives are a blending of melody, harmony, and rhythm,” Director Bruce Walker said in a news release. “It has a chorus that expresses the most important part of ourselves each time we sing.”

The choir will continue to perform three to four concerts a year, collecting donations to benefit vocal music programs. To date, Vita Cantus has donated approximately $14,000 to area schools.

“Life Song,” the choir’s first concert under its new name, will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Road, Oakville.

“The program will feature music from many different genres,” said Walker. “Life is a song, and we love to share our song.”
