Lindbergh Schools is preparing for the next iteration of the district’s five-year strategic plan and will use community engagement to shape what the next phase will look like.

Lindbergh Schools Superintendent Dr. Tony Lake, and Lindbergh Schools Chief Communications Officer Beth Johnston discussed the timeline and process for the next phase of the district’s five-year strategic plan at the July 20 Lindbergh Board of Education workshop.

“When you look at our current strategic plan it’s not like we’re just gonna totally hit the reset button … we’re gonna take input, and we’re gonna tweak it, and we’re gonna make modifications and adjustments,” Lake said. “We’re not starting from zero, you know, this is work that we have been doing.”

Because there’s already a strategic plan in place that the district is updating to align with the community’s goals, as opposed to starting from scratch, this process will be a bit quicker than it was five years ago.

“From a general perspective, community engagement efforts will take place this fall, the plan will be drafted in late fall/winter and we will have a draft plan for the Board of Education to review in February 2024. The goal will be for the board to vote on the new five-year plan in March 2024,” Johnston said.

Throughout this process, the district will be working with EGL Association. Six firms that specialize in working with school districts submitted responses to work with the district and three were interviewed by a committee before EGL was ultimately chosen. According to Johnston, factors considered when selecting the firms to interview included their experience working with similar districts or districts considered to be models in teaching and learning, their focus on the future of education, in addition to having a current or former educator on their team, and their ability to provide in-person community engagement services, in addition to an online survey.

To get this process started, a special workshop will be held Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Lindbergh Central Office, 9350 Sappington Road, at 4:30 p.m. Dr. Todd White, a representative of EGL, will be in attendance to provide the board with a timeline walk-through and detailed overview of what the community engagement process will look like.
