Letter to the Editor

To the editor:

Reading Jan Burmeister’s Nov. 29 letter to the Call claiming that Green Park Ward 1 Alderman Michael Broughton’s opinions of Donald Trump in his letter of Nov. 20 fit into a category that would send up red flags to the Secret Service gave me goosebumps.

This is America, not a third-world dictatorship.

Are we supposed to refrain from criticizing someone who admires dictators, insults former prisoners of war and patriots, makes fun of the disabled, alienates our friends and neighbors overseas and to our north and south, and calls the free press enemies of our country?

And even worse, he has worked to turn back every environmental regulation that was put in place to attempt to save our planet and the future of our grandchildren.

In my opinion, he is an embarrassment to our country and the criticism is well deserved.
