The Green Park Board of Aldermen prepared bids for snow and landscaping and tree removal Aug. 17.
The board voted to go to bid for snow and landscaping in July. The city has been with its current contractor since 2014 and is asking for the same services in new bids.
Recently the board has made an effort to address dead and diseased trees in the city, issuing citations for 18 dead trees in June and marking 30-50 for evaluation by a specialist. The board decided in June to seek out an arborist to look at the trees.
City Administrator James Mello said one bid the city has received would be at no cost to the city.
“It’s basically his job to go around and audit trees like that, so if the city requests it and his boss signs off on it they’ll do it at no charge,” Mello said.
Mello said if the deal goes through the city will use the no-cost bid, and any expenses would be brought back before the board.
