Construction work is underway at Truman Middle School, and in a rare turn of events, the project is estimated to cost significantly less than the March 2024 budget outlined. While the budget allocated $41,250,000 for the Truman Project, the current guaranteed maximum price is only $32,565,100.
Because of updated cost projections and a change in the architectural firm’s fee structure, there will also be a decrease of approximately $150,000 in the architectural fee for the project. The approval for amendments to these contracts was passed at Lindbergh Schools’ Board of Education Meeting on July 17.
The renovations at Truman Middle School are funded by Prop R, a $150 million no-tax-rate-increase bond measure that was passed in April 2024. Renovations include converting some areas of the school — such as the old pool, tile gym and warehouse space — into classrooms. There will also be upgrades to security and mechanical systems.
