Lindbergh High School capped its spring sports season with state championships in men’s lacrosse and men’s volleyball.

The city of Crestwood last week recognized both teams for their outstanding achievements.

Both teams received official city resolutions recapping their championship seasons. Ward 1 Alderman Richard Breeding read a resolution honoring the men’s lacrosse team, and Mayor Gregg Roby read a resolution honoring the men’s volleyball team.

The Lindbergh High School men’s lacrosse team edged Marquette 4-3 to win the Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Association Division II Championship May 23 at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton.

The victory was the team’s first state title in program history, and avenged a one-goal loss to Marquette earlier in the season. Lindbergh finished with a record of 16-2, including a 12-2 mark in league play.

Three Flyers received all-conference recognition, three earned all-state honors and head coach Jake Delashmit was named MSLA Division II Coach of the Year.

Led by head coach Kim Onder, the Lindbergh High School men’s volleyball team topped CBC 2-1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-18) to capture the Missouri Class 4 Boys Volleyball Championship May 23 at Kirkwood High School.

The win was the team’s first state title in program history.

The Flyers finished the season with a 29-5-2 record, including a 6-1 mark in the Suburban West Conference, and ranked in the top two both offensively and defensively in the conference.

Five student-athletes received all-conference recognition, three earned all-state honors and junior outside hitter George Diehl was named the Class 4 Most Valuable Player.
