St. Louis County is developing its next comprehensive plan for the first time in over four decades.
Dubbed “STLCO 2050,” it will provide “a strategic framework” for the county “to grow and evolve over time,” the county stated in a Jan. 25 press release.
The plan outlines the county’s long-term goals across physical, economic and environmental development, with a focus on land use, transportation, housing, infrastructure, economic development, environmental sustainability, public facilities and community services.
The last comprehensive plan was adopted in 1980, with an update in 1985.
The county has partnered with AECOM, Shockey Consulting, Rise Community Development and H3 Studio to develop and draft the next phase of the strategic plan.
The planning process will last through 2024 and into early 2025.
