To the editor:
Ann Wagner talks about supporting working families, but her voting record tells a different story. Over and over, she has sided with wealthy donors, corporations and the Trump administration instead of average Missourians trying to keep up with rising costs.
She opposed efforts to raise the federal minimum wage while working families struggle with groceries, housing and child care. She also opposed extending the ACA health care subsidies, which led to higher premiums for many middle-class families. Some people had to let their insurance lapse because they simply couldn’t afford it anymore. And then she voted for the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which permanently locks in the 2017 Trump tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefit corporations and the very wealthy. Meanwhile, many of the tax breaks for ordinary Americans were allowed to phase out over time. The bill also guts Medicaid and food assistance programs that many Missouri families depend on.
Working people in Missouri are being forced to pay more for healthcare and groceries while the wealthiest Americans continue getting tax advantages. At some point, voters have to ask who Ann Wagner is really fighting for. This November, I’ll be supporting her opponent, Fred Wellman.
