St. Louis County now has $175 million in federal stimulus funds for the coronavirus response on hand, and a transparency portal to track all related spending and contracts is now live on the county website.

County Executive Sam Page says any spending associated with the county’s response to the COVID-19 crisis will be tracked on the “transparency portal” now live at stlcorona.com.

On Wednesday, the county received $173,481,105.80 from the federal government to be used exclusively to address the pandemic. The County Council is expected to vote Tuesday on how the money will be spent.

“Saving lives is my No. 1 priority, and that means purchasing tests, tests and more tests,” Page said in a news release. “We have to do everything we can to keep people healthy, open our businesses and get back to work.”

Expenditures of the funds will be overseen by the U.S. Department of Treasury and a special inspector general, the county said.

Federal guidelines were released on Wednesday stating how the funds have to be spent.

“We must follow the federal rules we were given,” Page said in the release. “Otherwise, we would have to reimburse the federal government for any expenses that did not fit those guidelines.”
