Celebrate Arbor Day | Join the City of Crestwood for a special Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony as they continue the momentum of the Back to Nature Project. The trees for this planting are generously provided by Forest ReLeaf of Missouri, a nonprofit dedicated to growing and distributing trees to support communities and expand urban tree canopies. The event will take place at 3 p.m. on the north side of Crestwood Park, with the most convenient access from 9800 Amberley Drive.

Dive into history | Bring the kids to help celebrate Julia Dent Grant’s 200th birthday. Starting April 25, the park is launching a special set of activities commemorating Julia Dent Grant. When Junior Ranger candidates complete the activities, they’ll earn a new Julia Bicentennial Badge. The program is free, and no reservations are required. It will take place all day at the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, 7400 Grant Road.
Community yard sale | Clear the clutter and join in on one of Crestwood’s favorite traditions — the Citywide Yard Sale! The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon. Maps will be available on April 24 by noon. Rain or shine, the sale is on!
Community garage sale | Sunset Hills residents can register their home for the City Wide Garage Sale for free by calling the Sunset Hills Community Center’s front desk at 314-842-7265. City Wide Garage Sale locations will be available at the community center, 3915 S. Lindbergh Blvd., and online by 8 a.m. the morning of the event. The City Wide Garage Sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Shop ‘til you drop | Sunset Hills will host an indoor flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sunset Hills Community Center, 3915 S. Lindbergh Blvd. For more information, call 314-842-7265.
Gone fishin’ | St. Luke’s United Methodist Church will host a free Family Fun Fishing Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spindler Pavilion of Suson Park, 6073 Wells Road. All are welcome and lunch is provided. Bring your fishing gear. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Licenses are required for ages 16-65.
Dive into history, nature | Fewer than 100 people have visited all 430+ sites within the National Park Service, and David Kroese is one of them. For National Park Week, join David as he retraces different periods and events in Ulysses S. Grant’s life through the National Park Service sites that tell much of his life story. More than 30 NPS sites across the country, from the Atlantic Seaboard to the Pacific, have direct connections with Ulysses Grant. This event will take place from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Ulysses S. DEA Drug Take Back | Help keep your home and community safe by properly disposing of unused or expired medications. As part of the National DEA Drug Take Back initiative, residents can drop off prescription drugs for safe, anonymous disposal at the Crestwood Government Center, 1 Detjen Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Too often, unused medications end up in the wrong hands, leading to dangerous and sometimes tragic outcomes. Make a difference | The River Rock Church of Lemay will host its Better Rest program for families in the Lemay community who have children in need of a bed. Volunteers are wanted. Volunteers will go to homes to meet families and measure the bedrooms to make sure the bunk beds will fit. The church also needs volunteers to go into homes, build the bunk beds and gift bedding and Bibles. Donate new twin-size bedding, pillows, sheets, comforters and blankets at River Rock Church, 1601 Telegraph Road, from 9 a.m. to noon. Call the church office at 314-968-0600 if you have questions.
Dive into history | White Haven was a working farm from the time that Colonel Frederick F. Dent purchased the property in 1820 through Ulysses Grant’s ownership that ended in 1885, and well into the early 20th century. Ranger Blake discusses Grant’s farming experience at Hardscrabble as well as the farming operations experienced by the Dent and Grant families and by the enslaved laborers at White Haven.
