Lindbergh Schools’ mission statement is simple: “Excellence in learning. Designing the future.” But on May 20, the district instead looked to its past as it received the 2024 Heritage Award by the Southwest Area Chamber of Commerce in honor of the school district’s 75th anniversary
“We greatly appreciate the chamber’s partnership and support of Lindbergh Schools over the past several decades and are truly honored to accept this year’s Heritage Award,” superintendent Tony Lake stated in a press release.
The Heritage Award is presented each year to one long-standing business or organization that has had an impact on the economy in the South County region over an extended period of time. The award was accepted by Lake at the annual chamber awards luncheon on May 20.
Lindbergh Schools was founded in 1949 after the consolidation of five districts in the area. Now, it boasts one high school, two middle schools, six elementary schools and other centers for early childhood and gifted programs. Of Lindbergh’s eleven schools, eight are National Schools of Character and six are National Blue Ribbon Schools.
The district serves over 7,500 students, with approximately 600 graduating on May 21.
“As we celebrate this historical milestone as a school district, we also look ahead, Lake stated. “We continue to embrace cutting-edge technologies and teaching methods, ensuring that our students are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.”
In addition to Lindbergh Schools, some of the other organizations honored at this year’s luncheon include the St. Louis County Police Department Affton Southwest Precinct, Scooters Coffee and Tutor Doctor.
