Two Lindbergh High juniors received a Citizen Service Citation award from the St. Louis County Board of Police Commissioners for their heroic actions to save a home and the pets inside during a recent fire.
Katie Young was walking to her friend’s house when she heard smoke detectors going off in a neighbor’s home. She called 911 with her friend, Lejla Bajramovic. Lejla was house-sitting for the neighbor, who was out of town, so she went inside, helped one of the dogs escape and provided firefighters helpful information to rescue a second dog who was in a kennel inside the home.
St. Louis County Police Lt. Jerry Kelly, left, visited LHS in March to honor Lejla and Katie, along with LHS School Resource Officer Paul Gordon, right.
