48-Year Hall of Fame Agent Earns Top Honors for Outstanding Service to His Customers
Dan Fowler is the second most tenured insurance agent in the state of Missouri. He has been named a Hall of Fame agent by American Family Insurance and earned the Hall of Fame status for outstanding customer service and sales of American Family products for 48 years.
After serving 48 years as an agent, Dan looks forward to serving his policyholders and the community for many years to come
Dan is one of five agents in the history of American Family to qualify for more than 40 consecutive All American Conventions. He started his career as a scratch agent for American Family Insurance in 1976 at the age of 23.
He graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice. That same year, he married his wife, Sandy. They have four children: Justin, Julie, Jenny and Janell.
During his 48 year career, Dan has earned dozens of awards from his company and district as one of their top agents.
In 1989, he successfully ran for the Mehlville Board of Education and was reelected two more times, serving nine years before stepping down. The board elected him president in 1992 and 1997. He held officer positions during six of his nine years on the school board.
As board president in 1992, Dan helped to lead the effort to pass a $29.5 million bond issue that improved the school district’s facilities and added a new
elementary school.
As board president in 1998, he also helped to lead a campaign to pass a levy that enabled teachers’ salaries to remain competitive with neighboring districts.
Late 1999, Dan undertook his biggest community challenge to date, chairing a public engagement process to assess the facility needs of the Mehlville School District, which led to a successful $70 million bond issue.
In 2007 Dan was appointed by the Board of Education to co-chair COMPASS (Charting the Oakville-Mehlville Path to Successful Schools). One of the COMPASS recommendations was to transfer tax monies from the capital fund to the operational fund to stabilize the budget. Voters approved this recommendation.
In 2015, Dan became part of a leadership group that led and passed Prop R, a levy increase to help fund and make the Mehlville School District a place of destination.
Dan authored three books, “Ten Steps to Success” in 2006, and “Ten Steps to Energizing Your Business and Life” in 2009. His latest book is “Life Must Have A Purpose”.
In 2015 the Board of Education voted to honor Dan by naming its board room the Daniel S. Fowler Board of Education Room.
Dan loves spending time with family including his eleven grandchildren, Catherine, Dylan, Elizabeth, Gracie, Jack, John III, Julia, Kellen, Natalie, Nellie and Peyton. He enjoys reading, walking and working out in the yard. Do not be surprised to pass his house and see him sitting out on his driveway talking with neighbors. “Tune into Dan’s Dress up Mondays Fireside Chats” on Facebook!
