Uncle Leo’s Pizza is founded on an Italian family tradition that we want to share with pizza lovers all over St. Louis.
Leo Failoni was born in St. Louis and moved to Kansas City in 1953. A smart and successful business man, he opened Leo’s Pizza in 1974 with his wife, Anna Marie, who diligently worked by his side.
Together, they turned a small business, Leo’s Pizza, into the premier destination to experience the finest quality pizza in K.C.
Alex Failoni visited his Uncle Leo in Kansas City to learn and to share his Uncle’s secret homemade pizza recipe with his St. Louis customers at Failoni’s Restaurant & Bar.
The rest is history. Due to the family’s pizza success, Alex and partners; his nephew, John Meiners, who manages Uncle Leo’s and his brother, Joe Meiners, who is an owner at Failoni’s, wanted to expand and share their “little bit of heaven” with South County. Alex Failoni moved to heaven at the end of 2021 leaving Uncle Leo’s pizza in the good hands of family to serve South County. Alex made many friends while sharing his Uncle Leo’s family recipe while preparing pizza dough, meatballs and singing Frank Sinatra songs. That’s amore!
