To the editor:

Strong school systems are fundamental to the success of a community. Mehlville School District continues to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement with involvement from every stakeholder to build a culture of engagement and trust.

In January 2019, a Facilities Steering Committee began work to identify necessary repairs and improvements for the facilities at each campus. On Jan. 21, 2021, the Mehlville School District Board of Education voted unanimously to place a zero-tax-rate-increase bond issue measure on the April 6, 2021 ballot.

Proposition S facility updates will ensure that our schools are safe. Security entrances at each campus along with other necessary renovations and repairs will be possible with the passage of this zero-tax-increase bond issue.

As community members, it is our civic responsibility to remain educated and involved in the success of our school system. It is our responsibility to ensure that Mehlville School District continues to produce graduates who are creative, self-aware, persistent, ethical and excellent communicators that have the ability to critically think in our global world.

It is our responsibility to get out and vote yes on Proposition S April 6. Mehlville School District continues to uphold its promises to the community — it is our turn to uphold our promise to Mehlville School District. Vote “yes” on Proposition S.
