To the Editor:
This April 2, Crestwood voters will consider Proposition A. This is more than a decision-it’s a call to action for the future we envision for Crestwood; a rare opportunity not just to dream about a better community, but to actively shape it.
Prop-A is the result of resident feedback. The year-long Parks Master Plan effort made the needs of our community clear. Topping the list of park needs were improvements to our community center.
Your most requested features are addressed – An indoor elevated walking track, a fitness area that’s finally up to modern standards, a larger gym, and versatile spaces for everything from yoga classes to community meetings.
Prop A addresses other top requests from residents. The existing center will be transformed into a pickleball and family games complex – keeping the areas that work, and eliminating those that don’t. Whitecliff Park will see a new 1.25-mile loop trail, a new pedestrian bridge connecting the Lodge Pole neighborhood, a new nature playscape, and a complete replacement of the aging playground at Crestwood Park – our busiest playground in the city.
Of course, this has a cost and there will be an increase to our property taxes. Yet, it’s important to highlight that even with this increase, Crestwood residents will still enjoy a total property tax rate that remains lower than nearly all our neighboring cities, representing an outstanding value for residents.
By supporting Proposition A, we’re casting a vote for the kind of community we aspire to be—one that supports everyone: seniors, adults, families, and children. Let’s come together as a community this April, united by our vision for a better Crestwood, and vote for progress, and to create a place that brings our community together – A Place for Everyone.
