Tietjens to play volleyball at FSU

Annie Tietjens of Oakville, a 2015 graduate of Ursuline Academy in Webster Groves, signed a letter of commitment to play volleyball at Florida State University beginning this fall. Tietjens played this past season at Springhill College in Mobile, Ala., leading her team to a 25-7 record. She was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Setter of the Year. Tietjens is the daughter of Jim and Julie Tietjens of Oakville. She learned her volleyball skills from her mother, who is a member of the Bishop DuBourg High School Sports Hall of Fame. Tietjens played club volleyball with Team Elite St. Louis and the Rockwood Volleyball Club. She also played Catholic Youth Council volleyball at St. Margaret Mary, where she was coached by her mom. Her father was a member of the 1976 Oakville High School State Championship soccer team. Pictured, from left, are: FSU head coach Chris Poole, Tietjens and FSU assistant coach Jordana Price.
