Sperreng Middle School students had a rare opportunity to dress up for Halloween this year, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of their parents. Earlier this fall, the Sperreng Parent Teacher Organization challenged parents to donate $10,000 in seven days during the school’s direct donation campaign, and Sperreng families rose to the challenge.
To reward their generosity, Principal Mark Eggers agreed to make Halloween a dress-up day for students and teachers — a festivity usually reserved for elementary schools. Eggers even put on a Dracula cape to join in the fun. Besides the costumes, students were treated to a lunchtime popsicle party last week with a DJ. Money raised through the direct donation campaign will go toward purchasing new furniture for the Sperreng library and technology for students.
