Sappington-Concord Historical Society hosts annual Memorial Day event, features LHS band

The Sappington-Concord Historical Society is hosting its annual “biggest little” Memorial Day celebration Monday at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, 11735 Denny Road.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, May 29 on the green at the church. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

This year’s event features a performance by the Lindbergh High School Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band, a ceremonial flyover by a local group of Stearman Biplane aircraft owners, a doves peace release and other musical performances by Lauren Hoggatt and the Moolah Drum Corps.

This year’s distinguished speaker is Lt. Col Rhonda Evenson, retired from the U.S. Army and National Guard. Evenson completed a combat tour during Operation Iraqi Freedom and retired in 2013 after 31 years of service, including active duty and National Guard duty.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawnchairs. Parking is available in the church’s east parking lot. Visit shch.ws for more.
