Reader says county roads are for vehicle transportation, not pedestrians

Regarding St. Louis County Bill No. 86 “Pedestrians On The Roadway”

Roads are for vehicle transportation, not unsupervised pedestrians. That’s why we arrest “protesters” who block roads during demonstrations. It’s our determination that we do not need anyone or anything distracting drivers in their travels. It’s just not safe.

So I have a suggestion: If you want to allow pedestrians to interface with street traffic, then get them cages to walk in so that if a car hits them they will be more protected from the impact.

Now, if you think my idea is stupid, it’s no more stupid than allowing this dangerous practice to continue.

Also, why is the will of the citizens being overturned? Tell me, why is St. Louis County Executive Sam Page’s veto more moral than our desires? Will he be personally covering the cost of our lawsuits if we hit someone? I’ve got a better idea: Just like the pedestrians, tell him to get out of the way and stop interfering with our concerns and travels.
