To the editor:
I agree with part of Cindy Trebus’ recent letter that criticized county executive candidate and 6th District County Councilman Steve Stenger, D-Affton, for his failure to properly consult residents on several south county developments, including one in Oakville.
However, I find Republican county executive candidate Rep. Rick Stream’s blatant pandering to the Ferguson protesters and former members of Charlie Dooley’s administration far more objectionable. Regarding the Ferguson protesters, a Rick Stream campaign flier proposes “reforms to police departments,” in addressing the “Ferguson Crisis.”
Stream was also quoted in an Oct. 9 Call article saying, “In future cases in which a police officer kills a member of the public, a special prosecutor should be appointed.”
The behavior of the protesters, though, is not criticized.
Explicit and thinly veiled threats of more violence have been made by protesters if a grand jury refuses to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson.
Rather than the rule of law, the protesters are advocating mob rule.
A candidate seeking their votes will not get mine.
