A homeowner shot and killed one attempted intruder and wounded another in a shooting early Friday in Lemay, police said.

A 19-year-old and a 14-year-old attempting to break into a residence in the 300 block of Shadwell Drive, at the Jefferson Townhomes complex south of Jefferson Barracks, were “confronted by the homeowner and shot,” police said.

Officers from the St. Louis County Police Department’s South County Precinct responded to the 911 call for help at roughly 6:45 a.m. today.
Pronounced dead at the scene was Demarcus Boxley, 19, who had been shot at least once. Boxley lived in the 3100 block of Nebraska Avenue in St. Louis, 63118.
Soon after the call off Shadwell was dispatched to officers, South County Precinct officers responded to the 2600 block of Elk Hill for a 14-year-old male who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound whom they first identified as a victim, but later classified as a suspect.
That suspect ran to that address after being shot in the 300 block of Shadwell. Both addresses are connected to the initial shooting off Shadwell, police said.

The teenager was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. He was in stable condition as of Friday evening, police said.

Police do not provide the names or cities of juvenile suspects or victims.

The investigation into the shootings is ongoing and will be presented to county prosecutors when it concludes, police added.

The incident is under investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons. Detectives believe they have all persons of interest in custody.
